It's evident that my profound connection to urban density and my artistic interpretation of cityscapes have deep roots in my personal history and upbringing. My father would take us kids to construction and development sites. I was exposed to building structures way before I approached it from an artistic perspective. I witnessed first hand the development of my fathers first major residential development as well as his own residence from paper plans though construction. Witnessing the evolution of this along with other neighborhoods undoubtedly imprinted upon me a deep appreciation for the complexity and the dynamic nature of urban landscapes. In fact our family home built in 1959, holds historical significance and is included in the Wisconsin Historical Society Architecture and history Inventory further emphasizing the legacy of my families involvement in shaping the built environment.
My keen eye for the interplay of elements such as color, shape, shadow, and size within these urban landscapes speaks to my ability to perceive the aesthetic potential in the very structures that once captivated me during my childhood explorations. My unique perspective shaped by my familial experiences and artistic sensibilities allows me to breath new life into the neighborhoods I encounter capturing their essence in a way that reflects both their historical significance and contemporary allure.
